The variety of greens in nature is amazing and with pastels, there is not a lot of color mixing that can happen so finding just the right green is a real treasure hunt.
I began painting because the shapes and colors of flowers intrigued me so. I am not a gardener. I don't really enjoy bending, stooping, kneeling, digging. But I do love the product!
My first professional set of soft pastels came from Romania and it had the most luscious purples. Since then, I add purple to a landscape whenever I can.
I love deep color, bright color, hot and cool color. The red pigments in pastels are limited so I've been playing with acrylics as well.
The human body is an amazingly diverse subject for drawing and painting. My work in faces and bodies informs my work in florals and landscapes in very interesting ways.
